SPARTA (4/10/08) – The 24th
Legislative District representatives are vehemently opposed to any
proposal to toll Routes 78 and 80 to pay for the proposed
trans-Hudson tunnel and have taken exception to Assembly Majority
Leader Joseph Cryan’s proposal that the state should even consider
it.

Scapicchio sees
agreement coming on Budd Lake land and boathouse plan
MOUNT OLIVE (4/09/08) –
It took a little time but Mayor David Scapicchio is confident the
Township Council will approve a proposal at the April 22 Council
meeting to accept more than $275,000 in state and county grants to
purchase several hundred feet of Budd Lake beachfront as well as an
area to expand parking, a building that was at one time a restaurant
and bar and a boat ramp.

Accused school bus vandals to pay a very heavy price

The seven high
school seniors accused of participating in disabling 44 buses in the
school bus compound last month are paying a heavy price for what
they apparently thought would be a prank.

Frelinghuysen to seek eighth consecutive term
MORRISTOWN
(4/07/08) – Congressman Rodney
Frelinghuysen (R-11), in one of his first activities since
announcing his plan to run for re-election, is on a trade mission
to Columbia with U.S. Trade Mission Representative Susan Schwab.
They will meet with Columbia President Alvaro Uribe and other senior
leaders to discuss trade and commerce issues.

still fighting Ag. Dept. demise proposes shifting related DEP jobs
into it

Assemblywoman Alison Littell
McHose today said she was stunned that it appears nobody with
expertise in the agriculture industry was consulted before Gov.
Corzine proposed eliminating the Department of Agriculture and
reiterated her stance that the downside of losing the department
will far outweigh possible cost savings.

Assemblywoman Alison Littell McHose expressed outrage
at the NJ Department of Environmental Protection’s (DEP)
announcement today that it will close at least nine
state parks and cut services at three others at the
height of the summer tourist season. The proposal, she
said, was in Governor Jon Corzine’s proposed budget
cuts.
