Village Green resident arrested on gun charge 

    MOUNT OLIVE (12/13/08) – Matthew Pickett, 19, of Budd Lake was arrested yesterday on a charge of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Criminal Mischief.  He was released yesterday pending a court hearing. Full Story


Another Bucco envisions a seat in State Assembly 

     BOONTON TWP. (12/10/08) - Anthony Bucco Jr., the son of State Senator Anthony Bucco,  announced yesterday he was a candidate for what will be a vacant seat in the State Assembly’s 25th District.  The seat presently is held by Assemblyman Richard Merkt who has announced his retirement to run in what surely will be another difficult primary election for Governor. Mount Olive Rec. Department is sponsoring a Photo Contest 

      MOUNT OLIVE (12/08/08) – The Township Recreation Department is sponsoring a winter photo contest celebrating what makes Mount Olive “a Great Place to Live, Work or Play.”  Deadline for entries is March 1 at mid-night.  Full Story


School Board President Mark Werner to confront Council over sewer fees

     MOUNT OLIVE (12/9/08) –The simmering disagreement between the Board of Education and the Township Council over some $450,000 in back sewer and water fees was kicked up a notch last night when Board President Mark Werner said he will confront the Council over the issue.  The Council is meeting tonight but Werner did not specify when he would go before the Council. Scout Troop 18 to host Hanukkah Party Dec. 14 

     MOUNT OLIVE (12/07/08) – Boy Scout Troop 18, Patriot’s Path Council Jewish Committee will host a family Hanukkah party next Sunday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Temple Hatikvah, located on Pleasant Hill Road in Flanders.

    There will be food, games, crafts, music and door prizes. The suggested donation is $4 per person, $15 per family of four or more.

“White Christmas” Broadway show planned by Recreation Department  

       MOUNT OLIVE (12/07/08) – The Township Recreation Department is planning a trip to New York to see the Broadway production of White Christmas on December 17.  Tickets for the 8 p.m. performance cost $145 each for front mezzanine seats. Full Story  


Chamber Holiday Food Drive in full swing again 

    MOUNT OLIVE (12/06/08) – The Mount Olive Chamber of Commerce Holiday Food Drive now in its 18th year has been ongoing since November 1 and expectations are it will be the most successful ever.  Last year the Chamber collected more than 2,000 pounds of food and nearly $1,500 in monetary donations. State “Safe Haven” law a prudent response for unwanted infants 

      MORRISTOWN (12/05/08) – The Morris County Department of Human Services has been designated by the NJ Division of Youth and Family Services to be responsible for implementing the Safe Haven Infant Protection Law in the county. Full Story  


Budd Lake man charged with aggravated sex assault 

     MOUNT OLIVE (12/05/08) – Reinaldo Bracero, 22, of Budd Lake is in the Morris County jail in lieu of $30,000 bail on charges of aggravated sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a minor. Full Story  


Morris/Warren/Hunterdon legislators to hold open house Wednesday 

          NEWTON(12/4/08) – Sen. Steven V. Oroho, Assemblywoman Alison Littell McHose and Assemblyman Gary R.
