March: Lots of kids’ activities
in the Mount Olive Library
MOUNT
OLIVE (2/26/08) - The Mount Olive Public
Library will celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday on Sunday,
March 2nd from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. with a “Read
Across America Read-a-Thon.” Guest readers will read
their favorite children’s books, and the children will
make crafts in honor of Dr. Seuss. Anyone who would
like to read to the children can call the Library’s
Children’s Room at (973) 691-8686 to schedule a time.
Children
also are invited to a Therapy Dog Read-Along on
Saturday, March 1st at 1:00 p.m. and on
Saturday, March 29th at 11:00 a.m. The
children are asked to bring their favorite book, or
choose one at the library to read to Marissa, a gentle
greyhound, who loves to be read stories. Registration
for this activity is requested.
Passport Pals, a multicultural story time for 1st
through 5th grade children will meet at the
library on Tuesday, March 4th and Tuesday,
March 18th at 4:30 p.m. Passport Pals
explore countries around the world through stories,
crafts, and other activities. Pre-registration is
requested.
Shalom Children’s Hour, story-telling by Rabbi Moshe
Rudin, will return on Sunday, March 9th at
1:00 p.m. Enjoy stories, singing, a snack and a craft.
The program is geared for children ages 3 to 6 who must
be accompanied by a caregiver. All are welcome!
Registration is requested.
Twilight Tales, nighttime story time for families,
will be presented on Thursday, March 20th at
7:00 p.m. Children are invited to wear their pajamas
and bring a favorite stuffed animal.
Registration for Spring Story Times will begin on
Monday, March 24th. Spring Story Times will
run from April 8th to May 12th. Story Time
groups are available for children from 9 months through
Kindergarten. Registration is required. Please bring
your Mount Olive library card and the child’s birth
certificate to register.
If glitter, glitz and fuchsia appeals to you, come
to the Fancy Nancy Splendid Soiree on Tuesday, March 25th
at 4:30 p.m. Wear a tiara, create posh crafts, and
enjoy all things fancy. For ages 3 through the fifth
grade. Registration begins on March 1st and
is limited.
The ABC Music Academy is preparing a Spring
Concert to be held on Sunday, March 30th at
12:30 p.m. All are invited to listen to the music and
create a craft to take home.
