Chiusano
calling for State and Federal investigations of Horizon
MOUNT OLIVE (1/30/08) -
Assemblyman Gary Chiusano
today called for an immediate investigation by state and federal
authorities into the startling admission by Horizon Blue Cross Blue
Shield of New Jersey this week that some 300,000 of its subscribers
are at risk of identity theft.

Scholarship
MOUNT OLIVE (1/29/08) –
The Township Finance Department has established a $500
scholarship contest for Mount Olive High School seniors pursuing a
college degree majoring in finance, accounting or business
administration. This scholarship is personally funded by Sherry
Jenkins the chief financial officer and Jack Marchione, the township
tax assessor since 2002.

Marks First Annual Pajama Program
MOUNT OLIVE (1/29/08) When ever there’s a good
cause and a need for help one can almost name the people in town who
will be involved….Colleen Labow, Flora Salierno, Dr. Brenda Rooney,
Kevin Ebner, Laura Bartus, Jenn Cranmer, Jill Daggon, Liz Meininger,
Frank Wilpert, and Sherry Lema. There are others and apologies to
anyone who wasn’t named here. It’s a drive for pajamas for children

for more federal aid for Gypsy Moth Program advances
MOUNT OLIVE
- (1/29/08)
Responding to concerns over the extensive gypsy moth defoliation
damage in recent years, the Assembly Agriculture and Natural
Resources Committee yesterday unanimously approved an Assembly
resolution sponsored by Assemblywoman Alison Littell McHose and
Assemblyman Ronald Dancer aimed at gaining more federal funding for
New Jersey’s gypsy moth suppression efforts.

Correction
In an article,
headlined “Perkins elected Council President….” posted on January 9
on this web site, it was incorrectly reported in the fifth paragraph
that Councilman Phil Tobey was unanimously elected vice president of
the Township Council. That is not correct. Councilman Tobey was
elected vice president but not by a unanimous vote. Councilman
RussTepper and Councilwoman Colleen Labow voted “no” on the measure.

TWP. (1/10/08) – The recently founded chapter Kiwanis
Club of Lenape Valley already is boasting 26 members. The group
meets on the second and fourth Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. in

Dismissed Mt.
Olive fire fighter expanding suit against department

– Michael Foote, an
expelled member of the Budd Lake Volunteer Fire Department, is
expanding a wrongful termination law suit against the fire
department to include retaliation against him and his family by
several current members of the department.

Mayor
David Scapicchio was sworn to his first full four year
term as mayor yesterday by the U.S. Attorney for New
Jersey, Chris Christie.

first elected in November, 2006 to fill the one year
unexpired term of former Mayor Richard DeLaRoche who was
