24th District legislators thank those who
took part in fiscal task force
To The Editor:
We want to take this opportunity to thank the residents
of the 24th District who participated in the
meeting of the Assembly Republican Task Force on Fiscal
Responsibility that we hosted on March 10.
Thank you for sharing your concerns and your ideas on
how to fix our State’s fiscal woes. Many of you are
worried about the impact the Governor’s massive toll
hike and borrowing scheme will have on your families and
future generations, and we agree. This is why we
pledged not to support this ill-conceived plan.
The impact of the Democrats’ plan to hike
tolls and taxes on the people of this state would be
significant and it will affect even those who don’t use
toll roads. Hiking tolls would drive up the cost of
shipping consumer goods in our state which will get
passed on to consumers at the cash register. There is a
better way to get our fiscal house in order. It starts
by cutting wasteful and inefficient State spending and
implementing greater cost controls.
In addition, many of you are concerned with the degree
of how the Governor is mistreating rural and suburban
areas in his budget proposal in order to gain favor with
urban political bosses on which he is so dependent. We
appreciate the willingness you showed to join us in our
fight to protect our taxpayers and our way of life in
Northwest New Jersey.
Your voices, and the voices of your friends and
neighbors who could not attend, must continue to be
heard. We need you to keep making noise. Letters to
the editor, communicating your displeasure to the
governor on his proposed budget and toll plan, and
spreading the word against these expensive schemes will
keep the pressure on the Governor to act responsibly.
Further, if you want to join us in working towards
responsible solutions to New Jersey's problems call,
e-mail or write us to get involved.
Sincerely, Senator Steven V. Oroho; Assemblywoman Alison
Littell McHose, and Assemblyman Gary R. Chiusano.
