MOUNT OLIVE (10/31/07) – A newly organized, non partisan citizens group calling itself “Morris Residents Take Action” is endorsing Republican Jim Murray and two of the Democrats running for the three Board of Freeholders seats in Tuesday’s election. The Democrats being endorsed are Mosche Cohen and George Hayman.  Full Story

MOUNT OLIVE (10/31/07) – It’s getting down to the wire and decision time for Mount Olive Voters. Unfortunately or fortunately, it’s been a noticeably lackluster campaign even though all the candidates have been working hard going door to door to speak to voters. There are many who follow these type things who believe that once again there will be a low voter turnout in Mount Olive as elsewhere because there is no national or gubernatorial election and that would be terribly unfortunate. MO Council purchasing three much needed pick up trucks       MOUNT OLIVE (10/23/07) – The Town Council had the necessary two thirds majority votes to approve a $116,830 bond ordinance for the purchase of three trucks for the departments of public works and buildings and grounds. Only one councilman, Phil Tobey, voted against the purchase.  Full Story
Mount Olive dog park opening hailed by dogs and their owners MOUNT OLIVE (10/21/07) - It was a dog’s day in Mount Olive today but not for poor Allie, a rambunctious golden retriever who was just a bit too friendly for a first meeting to suit some of the other 50 or so pooches.   Full Story

M.O. Council mulling purchase of 3 trucks; cheaper than to repair
MOUNT OLIVE (10/18/07) – When the Township Council meets Tuesday an agenda item will be the purchase of three new trucks for the departments of public works and building and grounds. Mayor David Scapicchio and Township Administrator Bill Sohl examined the trucks and have given the proposed purchase their stamp of approval.

Byram “Charity Hike”to be held October 20
BYRAM (10/15/07) – The third annual fall “Charity Hike” at Hudson Farm will be held Saturday, October 20 from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The hike will take approximately one and a half to two hours on a new, self guided route. The hike is held in conjunction with Byram Township.

Police nab accused burglar in the act in Budd Lake
MOUNT OLIVE (10/13/07) – Police officers Walter Sevensky and Casey Grimm received a call at 2:46 a.m. from a resident in Harris Lane, Budd Lake that a burglary was in progress. The victim identified the alleged burglar as Nolvis Rivera-Garcia, 32, and told the officers that Rivera-Garcia had attempted to burglarize his home on two occasions.

Fall Festival planned byRecreation Committee
MOUNT OLIVE (10/5/07) – The Recreation Department is planning a “Fall Fest” at Turkey Brook Park on Saturday, October 27 from Noon to 5 p.m. The event is just one of several planned for the fall season by the department.

Reminder: GOP “Comedy Night”tomorrow night at Wyndham
MOUNT OLIVE (10/2/07) – Mayor David Scapicchio, who also serves as the chairman of the Mount Olive Republican Committee, today said tickets are still available for the organization’s “Comedy Night” starring Charles Wilkins on Friday, October 5 at 7 p.m. in the Wyndham Garden Hotel. Tickets are $75.

Township’s Open Space Tax proves an excellent investment

TRENTON (10/1/07) – Assemblywoman Alison McHose (R-24), who opposed the Clean Elections legislation when it was proposed earlier this year, today announced she is preparing legislation to re-visit the more glaring problems in the “Fair & Clean Elections” pilot project.
