Help children with disabilities

MORRISTOWN (12/12/06) - Legislation sponsored by Assemblywoman Alison Littell McHose and Senator Bob Littell, which would allow children with a mobility-related disability to use some public roads and lands while riding a motorized scooter, was approved today by the full General Assembly.

Costs for new DPW Bldg. soar much

MOUNT OLIVE (11/30/06) - Still straightening out what recalled Mayor Richard DeLaRoche left undone, newly elected Mayor David Scapicchio has told the Township Council that the cost to complete the new DPW garage will be at least $500,000 more than the $1.9 million approved by voters in a referendum last year. The garage is under construction at the municipal complex on Flanders-Drakestown Road.

MOUNT OLIVE (10/16/06) - The Mt Olive Area Chamber of Commerce will host a Mayoral Debate on October 25th at 7:00 p.m. in the cafeteria at the Mount Olive Middle School. All the candidates have been invited to participate, including Mayor Richard De La Roche who is the subject of a recall from office. One of the questions on the November 7 ballot will ask the voter to vote "yes" or "no" to recall the mayor. Another question will ask the voter to vote for one of three candidates, Republican David Scapicchio, Democrat John Mania or Independent Walter Lata. As of today Scapicchio and Mania have agreed to participate.

MOUNT OLIVE (2/23/06) – Contract negotiations between representatives of the Board of Education and the Mount Olive Teachers Union have been concluded with a three year agreement giving the teachers annual salary increases of 4.1 percent; 4.3 percent and 4.35 percent over three years beginning this year. Negotiations were started in October and concluded earlier this month, according to Board President Larry McEntee, who led the negotiations for the board.

A hearing, which had been set for this week, has been postponed. The suit filed by Dorsey is to compel payment of all fees submitted by his law firm, Dorsey & Semau. Named for the late Anthony Arbolino

NETCONG (1/26/06) – The Lenape Valley Regional High School held a dedication ceremony Wednesday naming the gymnasium in honor of the late Anthony J. Arbolino who served a combined 50 years on the Netcong and Lenape Valaley Boards of Education. He held the longest tenure of any board member in the state. A lifelong resident of Netcong, Mr. Arbolino died last July at the age of 87 His wife, Julie and son, John were present at the ceremony.
