Interfaith Thanksgiving Service
The Mount Olive Clergy Assn. will hold the annual Community Thanksgiving Interfaith Gathering at St. Jude Church in Budd Lake on Monday at 7:30 p.m. The service features seasonal music, prayers of thanksgiving a brief message and refreshments. The offering will be donated to the fire and rescue squads of Flanders and Budd Lake. Visitors may bring items for people in need including paper towels, toilet paper, household cleaners, shampoo, soap, shavers, shavinag cream and deodorant.
Senior Center Open 8:30 to 4:30
The Mount Olive Senior Center in the Municipal Complex 204 Flanders-Drakestown Road is open each day, Monday thru Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to all residents of the township 55 and older. Mount Olive Historical Society
The Mount Olive Township Historical Society meets at 7 p.m. the first Monday of every month. All are welcome. For further information call (973)347-6415
- The society presently is looking for older pictures of the Seward Mansion at Turkey Brook Park.
- Photos with any portion of the structure are of special interest. The society is in the process of obtaining an assessment of the structure; therefore, architects and preservation commissions are asking for photos.

Mount Olive PRIDE Council
The Pride Council meets at 7 p.m. the third Tuesday of each month in the cafeteria of the municipal building. The public is invited to suggest ideas to promote pride in the township.
Mount Olive Kiwanis
The Mount Olive Kiwanis meets at 12:15 the second Wednesday of every month at Perkins Restaurant, Route 46 East in Budd Lake. The group also meets at 7:30 p.m. the first and third Thursdays of every month at Perkins Restaurant. All are invited to attend and learn more.
Public Library Story Time
The Mount Olive “Story Time” registrations are presently being offered. Story times are held during regular library hours and are open to the public for children from 9 months through kindergarten. The library is planning stories, songs, play and craft activities appropriate to the age of the child. Attendees should bring a Mount Olive library card.

The Mount Olive Park Partners Paver Program offers residents, school groups, civic organization and businesses an opportunity to memorialize a loved one or friend, or showcase a family name ofn on a papvb paver that will line the walkway by the kids kingdom d tot lot in Turkey Brook Park. Fun ‘n’ Friends Nursery School
The non-profit Fun ‘n’ Friends Nursery School in the United Presbyterian Church, 58 Drakesdale Road, Flanders, is accepting registration for children for half day sessions.
The programs are offered for children 21/2 to 4 with programs from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 12:30 to 3 p.m.

MO Council purchasing three much needed pick up trucks

Police nab accused burglar in the act in Budd Lake
MOUNT OLIVE (10/13/07) – Police officers Walter Sevensky and Casey Grimm received a call at 2:46 a.m. from a resident in Harris Lane, Budd Lake that a burglary was in progress. The victim identified the alleged burglar as Nolvis Rivera-Garcia, 32, and told the officers that Rivera-Garcia had attempted to burglarize his home on two occasions.

Police cars colors going back to traditional black and white
MOUNT OLIVE (9/18/07) – For many years policemen who drove patrol cars as well as detectives and other law enforcement officials referred to the cars as “black and whites.” In the last 30 years more and more police departments, bowing to change continued to vary with traditional colors and solids with stripes and other designs. In Mount Olive the patrol cars have been white with blue stripes for many years. Just as the cycle of change occurred many departments are now going back to the original black and white and among the latest to join the change back is Mount Olive.

First phase All Veterans Memorial done Project on target to be ready next May

What started as a boy scout Eagle Award project by Eric Wood expanded into a regional effort and a full time commitment by his mother, Charlie Wood Uhrmann, who jumped into the project as its coordinator. Dog park construction is under way at Turkey Brook Park in Mount Olive
MOUNT OLIVE (7/11/07) – Members of the Township Council enthusiastically agreed last night to appropriate up to $35,000 to start construction of a dog park at Turkey Brook Park. The $35,000 includes $17,500 from the township’s Open Space Trust Fund which will serve as a down payment as required by the Local Bonding Law. The rest of the cost, up to $17,500 will be bonded and is expected to come from fund raisers, grant monies and donations from users.
