MOUNT OLIVE (11/24/05) – Police are investigating the apparent murder of 55 year old Annick Smitton whose body was found yesterday in an apartment in Eagle Rock Village.

According to police a neighbor in the garden apartment complex complained to employees about the smell coming from an apartment rented by Joseph O. Gagnon who has lived there since 1991. They called police who found Smitton’s decomposing body.

Police said Smitton, who was fully clothed, apparently had been shot in the head and estimated she had been dead for at least 10 days to two weeks.
