NETCONG (12/12/05) – Councilman Greg Keller, a main spark plug in the borough’s governing body, will retire at the end of this month having served three consecutive three year terms.

Mayor Nicholas Pompilio and the other council members heaped praise on Keller for his astute efforts as chairman of the borough’s Economic Development Committee, which five years ago envisioned the Transit Village Project and has brought it pretty much to fruition.

Within the next five years there will be dramatic changes in Netcong as a residential and business community and a large part of the credit goes to Keller.

Keller also played a key role in the Main Street Improvement Project and the installation of the Municipal Clock which already has become a landmark.

He was instrumental in the borough being named a town center and transit village and the borough as a Special Improvement District.

All of these designations will significantly affect the taxes in the borough as well as the quality of life and Keller engineered most of it.

He also has served as chairman of the Municipal Insurance and Fire/Rescue Committees. In 2004 he served as the Council President.

A resolution unanimously adopted by the governing body stated: "While serving on the Borough Council, Mr. Keller has evidenced the highest degree of integrity, demonstrated a caring and giving attitude and retained independence and sincerity in making thoughtful decisions so necessary for effective leadership. "

Keller thanked the mayor and the individual council members saying he truly enjoyed serving with alal of them. "It’s been an incredibly rewarding time and a privilege to serve the community. "
