Netcong eyeing possible development near the borough’s water resource
NETCONG (11/8/07) – The Borough Council is mulling the sale of a 1,700 square foot tract of borough owned land near the municipal reservoir on Mountain Road to a developer who would purchase the land to free up for development a 63 acre tract it owns.

Shop Rite offering flu and pneumonia inoculations
NETCONG (9/30/07) – Ronetco Supermarkets, Inc. is offering flu and pneumonia inoculations on October 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on October 22 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at their Shop Rite store in Netcong. The flu shots will cost $30 and the pneumonia shots, $40.

Growing Stage to audition for Babes in Toyland parts
NETCONG (9/26/07) – The Growing Stage, the Children’s Theater of New Jersey, is holding auditions on October 8 and 9 at 7 p.m. for roles in the holiday musical classic, “Babes in Toyland.” The auditions will be held at the Historic Palace Theater on Route 183 in Netcong.

Netcong Transit Village Development and major road upgrading on schedule
NETCONG (7/13/07) – The Transit Village Development and road improvement projects that will significantly change the downtown and Route 46 and Main Street intersection are moving ahead on schedule, Mayor Joseph Nametko told the borough council this week. Construction is expected to start in the fall of 2008 or in early 2009.

Netcong Council fills Nametko’s seat
NETCONG (4/2/07) – The Borough Council has appointed Edward Koster, a lifelong resident, local businessman and volunteer fireman, to take the seat vacated by former Councilman Joseph Nametko who was elevated to the office of mayor last month. Nametko succeeded former long time Mayor Nicholas Pompillo, who resigned in February.

Netcong’s Growing Stage Theater marks outstanding achievements in last ten years
NETCONG (5/14/06) – The Growing Stage, in its 10th year this year, has much to celebrate. At its annual meeting this month it reported on the formation of its Performing/Teaching Artist Repertory Company, extension of its main stage productions to two matinee performances, continued its work on the construction of the ADA elevator, added to its Mid-summer Nights Dream murals (by Perry Arthur Kroger), launched its Teen Workshop Series and was approved by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts for inclusion in the roster of artist companies eligible to participate in the Council’s Artist Residency Program.

Growing Stage Theatre celebrating 10th Anniversary
NETCONG (4/26/06) –The historic Palace Theater on Route 183, home of the Growing Stage Theater Group, is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year and according to a statement has had over 200,000 people attend its activities since it opened. More than 16,000 young people and their families participated in just the last year.

Netcong Circle plans OK with governing body but will hold out for a few minor changes
NETCONG (2/7/06) – The $10.8 million Netcong Circle Project is ready to go. The mayor and Council are for it but there’s a couple of minor hitches. A revised DOT plan closes off resident Biagio George’s driveway and another property owner maintains that a portion of his property is in the project area.

Lenape Valley High School gymnasium Named for the late Anthony Arbolino
NETCONG (1/26/06) – The Lenape Valley Regional High School held a dedication ceremony Wednesday naming the gymnasium in honor of the late Anthony J. Arbolino who served a combined 50 years on the Netcong and Lenape Valaley Boards of Education. He held the longest tenure of any board member in the state. A lifelong resident of Netcong, Mr. Arbolino died last July at the age of 87 His wife, Julie and son, John were present at the ceremony.

Developer unveils Transit Village residential and business plans
NETCONG (1/20/06) – Residents had the opportunity on Wednesday to get their first glimpse of what the borough’s downtown is going to look like within the next few years. But only about a dozen people showed up at the special council meeting in borough hall.

DEP backs off threat to take over all outdated wastewater systems
NETCONG (12/22/05) – Three weeks ago when outraged freeholders, legislators and local officials gathered here to protest a Department of Environmental Protection order which would allow it to take over nearly all of the state’s 193 sewerage authorities and designated wastewater management planning areas, someone said it was just a bluff….that the DEP was doing this just to focus attention on the fact that few systems are in compliance with state regulations and to move the matter to a front burner.

Despite dry spell, Netcong water holding up well

Netcong Sports Club hosts monthly Sunday breakfasts

Sunday of every month from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. at their club, 5 Railroad Avenue. Pancakes,

Netcong set to name developer for the train station development
NETCONG (7/8/05) - The Borough Council has received proposals from four potential developers to
redevelop the 12 acres surrounding the NJ Transit train station. Borough Administrator Marvin Joss
said the governing body expects to announce one of them to be the developer at a special meeting
on September 13.

Farmer’s Market to re-open

the train station here last summer will re-open starting Jun 18.
